take care of that?
I called my home warranty and they sent the plumbers and then AC guys. These gents told me the house should have had all the pipes insulated and the warranty does not cover the cost for doing it which it may include to open the wall (sheet rock), insulate the pipe and put everything back in as it was which I think should be the most expensive part. Have anyone dealt with this problem in the past? do you the builder (as good faith) would do something to remedy the problem? the pipe sweats bad and I'm affraid it could lead to more problems. Please advice. Thanks.
I live in a 4 yo house %26amp; discovered an A/C problem: one pipe is not insulated, do you think the builder would?
I'd go back to the builder on it, or through the realtor you used. Most states require the builder to stand by their construction for at least 10 years. I think it's called a builder's bond. Call your realtor to find out what the laws are in your area. Then by all means, call the builder. Be nice about it at first and see how far his "good faith" goes. If that doesn't work, explain to him that you've done your homework and he is responsible for x, y, z.
My ex bought a house, had it a year, and a pipe burst because there was improper insulation. The builder had to cover the whole thing. I think the insurance company was the one that actually went after the builder and enforced it.
Reply:I would call the builder and explain the problem and the steps you have taken already and if they are a good reputable builder they will want to fix this for you.
Leaking in a wall like this will be a very good place for mold to grow and if this is something that was overlooked by the builder while building the home this is a health hazard to you and your family and if not fixed by the builder it could end up costing them a lot more in lawsuit fees in the future not to mention medical bills perhaps just a mention of this in a nice way will prompt them to do the right thing and fix it.
either way this will have to be fixed due to the amount of damage it will cause in the future both to your house and health.
